Online and Onsite Canine Massage Classes:

Students may become professionally certified by completing our entire 250-hour ONLINE course (Lessons 1-12) or opt to take online course lessons in pairs.

250-hour ONLINE CANINE MASSAGE COURSE: A comprehensive distance learning program that includes live Skype, audio, and video instruction. This online certification course is designed for students who prefer the flexibility of learning a new skill from their home at their own pace. Students learn all of the massage techniques taught in our 5 1/2-day onsite class.

Our Online Canine Massage Certification Program includes education in dog gait and conformation assessment, professional documentation, canine nutrition, business, anatomy, physiology, Stretching for dogs, and safety precautions. Students also learn canine Acupressure, Myofascial Release, Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, TTouch for dogs, Sports Massage, and Energy Work.

ONSITE CANINE MASSAGE COURSE- 50 Hours (OPTIONAL/NOT REQUIRED): Our 5 1/2-day Onsite Canine Massage Class offers instruction in six hands-on techniques included in the online course. It is not required for students to come onsite to earn their certificate of completion. The onsite class is for those students who would like to engage in live training, with other students, as an adjunct to their online certification course. Techniques taught onsite include: TTouch, Swedish Massage, Stretching, Myofascial Release, Stretching, and Acupressure.

All students attending the onsite course must also complete the online course when seeking full certification. Incoming onsite students must complete online Lessons One and Two as a prerequisite to the onsite class. We recommend completing as much of the online course before attending the hands-on/onsite course. All students completing the online course in full may opt to attend a portion, all, or none of the onsite classes.

Students may bring their own dog (or dogs) to the onsite class, or OSOCM can provide a dog for you.

The onsite class tuition is $750 (or $150/day) in addition to the 250-hour online course tuition cost of $1,750.

Common question: Do I need to take the NBCAAM exam and obtain their 50 required onsite class hours?

Answer: You are not required to take the NBCAAM exam to practice canine massage in most states. The NBCAAM exam is only required in Washington and Tennessee to call yourself a “certified animal therapist” or “registered animal therapist.” You can take the NBCAAM exam after completing our distance learning/home study Canine Massage course. You will also have to complete 50 hours of supervised in-class/hands-on study, covering assessment, execution of bodywork still being studied, benefits of massage/ acupressure, and practice guidelines. The Ojai School of Canine Massage 5 1/2-day onsite class does satisfy the above subject requirements, thus satisfying the 50 hours of supervised in-class/hands-on study required by the NBCAAM.

The Ojai School of Canine Massage is a member of the NBCAAM, IAAMB (International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork) Preferred Provider, and approved by the BPPE as an exempt institution. We are also an Approved Education Provider by the American Council of Animal Naturopathy.
